frequently asked questions
I am opening a new shop. What flavors should I carry?
A mocha is the most popular specialty drink that cafés serve, so Dark Chocolate is essential. In our experience, Caramel and White Chocolate sell equally well. Our Sugar Free Chocolate is the fastest up-and-coming flavor—most people who try it don’t think it’s sugar free!
I see a lot of chocolates out there. I’ve spent a lot of time picking out my coffee, but it’s easier to get something my distributor already carries. Why Mont Blanc?
Look at matching your espresso with a chocolate that really complements its flavor. We don’t think one chocolate fits all; that’s why we make different chocolate syrups—Sweet Dark, Semi-Sweet, Ghana—to match different coffees. Remember that the majority of your drinks will likely be sold as mochas or flavored drinks. Please take as much time to choose your chocolate as your coffee. Many of the fine coffee roasters in the country ship their coffee to customers anywhere in the country. We will provide that same service if you don’t have a local distributor.
Why do I need a rack?
The rack allows all three flavors to be merchandised on the counter next to your espresso machine with a very narrow footprint, maximizing valuable counter space.
Why syrups instead of powders?
As former café operators, we developed syrups because we were frustrated with using powders to flavor drinks. Powders are not easy to measure consistently (how do you measure a half scoop?!), are messy, and don’t dissolve in cold drinks. Syrups offer precise portion, cost control and drink consistency, and can be used in hot, iced and blended drinks.
Are your products certified kosher?
Yes.
Do any of your syrups contain dairy?
Caramel and White Chocolate have dairy in them, as do the Cold Fusion blender drink bases.
Is there caffeine in chocolate?
Yes, but significantly less than in a cup of coffee. A 16-oz. cup of brewed coffee can contain up to 330 mg of caffeine. A 16-oz. café mocha contains approximately half that amount.
What is the shelf life?
All of our products have an unopened shelf life of 18 months from the date of production. All products can be stored at room temperature both before and after opening. We recommend using the products within 30 days after opening.
How many pumps are in a case?
Every case contains one ½-oz. dispenser pump. We recommend using a pump for four bottles and then throwing it away.
Should I clean the pumps?
No. We do not recommend cleaning pumps because it is very difficult to dry them completely internally. And when water comes into contact with chocolate and caramel, it creates a very good environment for mold to grow. So simply put each pump into four different bottles without washing and then throw it away.
How can I get more pumps or display racks?
Call 1-800-877-3811 if you need additional pumps or display racks. We’re happy to supply them at a nominal cost.
